Executive Team

The HIF executive team carries out strategic action plans, manages key resources and coordinates HIF-related activities globally.

Aidan Hollis – President

Aidan Hollis is a Professor of Economics at the University of Calgary, and has also worked in commercial banking in Europe and Asia, as well as in government. He is responsible for the direction of IGH, in collaboration with the executive team. He co-founded IGH and co-developed the HIF model.

Peggy Tse – Director (Asia)

Peggy Tse is an Investment Specialist in the International Finance Corporation (World Bank Group) in Beijing. She is has special responsibility for commercial relationships for IGH, and for developing and managing internal systems. With a background in commercial finance at Goldman Sachs, she is well attuned to the needs of commercial partners.

Maria Ginevra Cattaneo – Director (Europe)

Maria Ginevra acts as an attorney in Milano and works on civil and commercial law, particularly on intellectual property law. She completed her PhD in Law and Technologies at the University of Bologna with a dissertation on International Intellectual Property and International law (Human right and health right -Access to drugs as a global justice problem). She was a Visiting Assistant in Research at Yale University in 2013. She has been awarded research fellowships and has published several research papers. Among other activities, she currently assists the American Chamber of Commerce in Italy, notably the Working Group on Research & Development matters. She set up and leads ASAP ITALY, the Italian Chapter of Academics Stand Against Poverty. She will develop and manage resources and connections in Europe.

Karen Lau – Director (Communications)

Karen Lau designs both external and internal communication strategies for HIF. She oversees HIF’s media presence while interacting frequently with our global partners and stakeholders. She also supports the strategic planning and execution of HIF’s market entry in Asia.

Albane Mercat – Manager with responsibility for la francophonie

Albane has degree in ethics and politics at Paris-Sorbonne university (Paris IV). Her studies focused on the international and global causes of poverty, and she has a passionate commitment to helping to bring about a just global order. She is responsible in IGH for developing and maintaining relationships in French-speaking countries (“la francophonie”).

Daniele Botti – Manager, finance

Daniele Botti is Adjunct Professor in the Department of Philosophy and Political Science at Quinnipiac University, and a Fellow of the Global Justice Program at Yale University. In the spring semester of 2018, Dr. Botti serves as Lecturer in the Department of Philosophy at Yale. Botti holds a Laurea, summa cum laude, in Literature and Philosophy from the University of Milan (Italy), and a PhD degree in History from the University of Eastern Piedmont (Vercelli, Italy). Besides serving as treasurer for IGH, Botti also volunteers as treasurer for ASAP (Academics Stand Against Poverty). He has published on peer-reviewed journals such as The Solutions Journal, History of Political Thought, and Journal of the History of Ideas.

Knowledge Volunteers

Volunteers are valuable assets to HIF given our lean structure, who increase HIF’s contact with the greater community and make available better expertise in the public health field.

Tony Jin

Tony Shicheng Jin is a third year Bachelor of Health Sciences student specializing in Global Health at McMaster University. Tony is interested in applying innovative solutions and research to improve access to medications for those living in resource-limited areas. As a Field Worker working in the Dominican Republic, he witnessed the widespread inequalities to accessing quality health care. Tony hopes that through his work with Incentives for Global Health he is able to raise awareness about equitable health care challenges and promote the Health Impact Fund to provide medications for those living in the most marginalized areas of the world. Tony’s main interests include global health, health systems and policy, and inter-disciplinary research. In his spare time, Tony enjoys acting in plays, swimming, and traveling.

Shruti Kharadi

Shruti Kharadi recently graduated from the University of Toronto with an Honours Bachelor of Science in Global Health. Growing up in Botswana, a country with one of the highest HIV prevalence rates in the world, she has witnessed first-hand the devastation of an epidemic on people’s lives and the country. These experiences have developed her passion for global health and access to medicine as she has seen the impact of Botswana’s transformational policy to provide free antiretroviral therapy to all HIV-positive people.
